Kevin Harvick: New Hampshire

5:42 p.m.: The race has been called. Harvick finishes 34th, 42 laps behind winner Joey Logano.

Lap 273: Cars are stopped on pit road, but Harvick is insistent that it has stopped raining. The red flag is out.

Lap 266: The caution is out for rain.

Lap 264: Harvick gives another weather report, clicking on the radio and saying, "It's raining pretty good now." Harvick is currently shown 34th, 42 laps back.

Lap 263: Harvick says that it's raining.

Lap 255: Leader Ryan Newman's time around the New Hampshire layout is about 30.64 seconds. Remarkably, Harvick turns in a lap at 30.65 seconds.

Lap 252: The water temperature in Harvick's car is running between 230 and 250 degrees.

Lap 227: Harvick says that the car was fast before the wreck, adding that it's still "pretty good."

Lap 222: Harvick makes his way back onto the track.

Lap 221: A crew member calls for a jackstand and flashlight. Harvick is also told to shut the car off. A potential leak in the oil pan is found.

Lap 219: Somebody says that there's something on fire underneath the car.

Lap 217: Harvick brings his car onto pit road. The crew will try to repair the rub.

Lap 216: Harvick's spotter tells him there's some smoke coming from the car. Harvick can also smell something underneath the car.

Lap 213: Harvick is back on the track. He's listed in 35th place, 37 laps down.

Lap 180: There's a slight mist being reported at the track. The green flag comes back out nevertheless, with Harvick still in the garage. He's shown 34th, seven laps down.

4:20 p.m.: The yellow flag is shown again, allowing Harvick's team to go to work on his car.

4:10 p.m.: Harvick's car will need a radiator and oil cooler. However, during the red-flag period, the team cannot make any repairs.

Lap 175: The red flag brings the field to a stop on the backstretch.

Lap 174: The caution period ends with Harvick in 15th place. Harvick is immediately caught up in a chain-reaction mishap on the restart. He goes directly to the garage with serious damage to his Chevrolet.

Lap 171: The No. 29 Richard Childress Racing crew elects to keep Harvick on the track as a handful of others pit.

Lap 169: A caution comes out for Paul Menard's spin behind Harvick.

Lap 160: Harvick is sandwiched between the cars of Casey Mears and Greg Biffle. Somehow, he manages to come out of the scramble ahead of them both.

Lap 158: The green flag drops again. Harvick has made his way into 20th place. Harvick is told that there's virtually no weather on the radar.

Lap 154: Harvick pulls the Shell-sponsored Chevrolet onto pit road for its fifth stop of the afternoon. We're also just past the halfway point of the race.

Lap 151: With Johnson on Harvick's bumper trying to put him a lap down, the caution comes out. Harvick is upset with McMurray holding him up.

Lap 149: There's no one now between Johnson and Harvick.

Lap 138: Johnson has now closed to within several car lengths of Harvick, who for the moment is still on the lead lap.

Lap 122: Harvick comes in for a stop under green. He takes on four tires and fuel. The stop lasts 17.2 seconds.

Lap 100: Harvick is 24th, 23.58 seconds behind leader Jimmie Johnson. On the track, Johnson is about a straightaway behind Harvick.

Lap 63: Running 28th, Harvick takes the green flag yet again.

Lap 61: Harvick pits with most of the rest of the lead-lap cars.

Lap 60: Another caution slows the pace of the race.

Lap 49: Harvick runs 24th when the green flag falls again.

Lap 47: Harvick is on pit road. It's a fuel-only stop that lasts just 6.8 seconds.

Lap 45: The yellow comes out. It's the competiton caution.

Lap 40: Harvick gets under Elliott Sadler for 32nd. He's passed five cars since the caution nearly 10 laps ago.

Lap 31: The green flag is out again, with Harvick running 37th.

Lap 29: Harvick makes his way onto pit road for service. The stop takes 14.6 seconds to complete. They'll still come in for fuel during the competition caution, which has now been moved to lap 45.

Lap 27: Again, we're under caution.

Lap 25: Harvick is 18th on the restart.

Lap 21: The caution is out again for Jamie McMurray's crash.

Lap 19: When the green flag is shown again, Harvick is 19th.

Lap 17: Although pit road is open, the Shell team elects to stay on the track. They're looking toward the competition caution scheduled for lap 35 to make any changes.

Lap 15: The caution is out. Harvick tells the pits that he doesn't need much in the way of adjustments.

Lap 8: After dropping back a couple of spots earlier, Harvick is back up to his original starting spot of 25th. He trails leader Kurt Busch by 8.1 seconds.

Lap 2: Harvick again is three wide, below Joey Logano and Elliott Sadler.

Lap 1: Harvick is on the inside of a three-wide pack.

2:16 p.m.: The green flag is out.

2:14 p.m.: Harvick will be making his pit stops while running his engine at 5,100 rpm in second gear.

2:12 p.m.: The field begins to roll off pit road. The green flag will be shown the third time by the starter's stand.

2:08 p.m.: Engines are fired. Let's roll!!!

Race Day, 1:50 p.m.: Because of heavy rain last night that washed rubber off the track, NASCAR plans to throw a competition caution at about lap 35.

Pre-Race: The car Kevin Harvick will drive this weekend in New Hampshire took Richard Childress Racing teammate Clint Bowyer to both of his career Sprint Cup victories -- in September 2007 at New Hampshire and May 2008 in Richmond. Casey Mears has been behind its wheel twice and Harvick once. Harvick used the machine to finish 34th at Richmond in May.

Qualifying at New Hampshire was canceled due to rain. Harvick will start 25th based on the current car-owner standings.

In 16 Cup races at New Hampshire, Harvick has one win (in the fall of 2006), one pole (again, in the fall of 2006), three top-five and nine top-10 finishes.

Richard Childress has a total of three wins at New Hampshire, with Harvick, Bowyer and Robby Gordon in November 2001. In 66 New Hampshire Cup starts, Childress teams have scored a total of 27 top-10 finishes with nine different drivers.
