Lap 181: There's talk of debris in turn one.
Lap 180: Harvick says the car is "dead sideways". Teammate Casey Mears has also passed him for eighth place.
Lap 176: Sam Hornish Jr. goes to the high side of Harvick in turn three to take over sixth. Dale Earnhardt Jr. then drops Harvick to eighth coming off turn four.
Lap 171: Carl Edwards passes Harvick for fifth place.
Lap 163: Harvick is up to third before Mark Martin makes a move under him going into turn one.
Lap 162: Harvick is fourth when the green flag falls again. Before the restart, Harvick is shown on television coasting around the track, trying to save fuel.
Lap 159: Most of the leaders pit, but Harvick stays on the track. He moves all the way up to fourth place with the strategy.
Lap 158: Another yellow flag is out, this time for David Stremme's spin off turn four.
Lap 157: Harvick passes Martin Truex Jr. for eighth place between turns one and two.
Lap 153: Just like that, Harvick makes his way into the top 10 for the first time today. He's ninth.
Lap 153: Harvick is 11th on the restart. The top eight cars stayed on the track.
Lap 150: After pit road finally opens, Harvick comes onto pit road for service. He takes on two tires and fuel.The stop lasts 7.6 seconds. After the stop, Harvick asks about the team's fuel situation. They'll be about five laps short, according to crew chief Gil Martin.
Lap 146: The caution's out for rain.
Lap 141: On the restart, Harvick holds down 15th place in the running order.
Lap 138: Harvick says there's rain in turn two. The restart is waved off.
Lap 134: Harvick pits moments after Gil Martin tells him that a rain shower is on the way. The crew bolts on two tires, and Harvick makes it out in eight seconds.
Lap 133: The caution is out for David Ragan's spin on the frontstretch. Harvick says the car wasn't bad on that run.
Lap 132: Harvick has picked his way through traffic to 12th place. Hhe trails leader Jimmie Johnson by 6.19 seconds.
Lap 127: The green flag is out again, with Harvick running in 16th place.
Lap 121: Kurt Busch and David Ragan crash off turn two. The caution comes right back out.
Lap 121: The green flag is back out. Harvick is 18th.
Lap 118: Harvick hits pit road ... this should be interesting. The stop lasts 14.8 seconds, on the clock, an excellent time.
Lap 116: The caution is out for debris. Harvick says the rear of his car is sliding all over the place.
Lap 108: Martin asks if the car's any better, and Harvick says, "The wheel's not falling off ..."
Lap 107: Harvick says very simply, "Too loose." Crew chief Gil Martin responds, also very quickly, "10-4."
Lap 104: It has been several laps since anybody's said anything on the No. 29 team's radio. Time will tell if tempers are cooling ...
Lap 100: The race is half over. Harvick runs 17th, 20.39 seconds behind leader Jimmie Johnson.
Lap 92: Harvick makes a comment about the tire, and Childress tears into him. "Just drive the ... car. You get paid to drive it, so drive the car."
Lap 91: Harvick pulls into his pit stop. As he's coming down pit road, he says, "I probably shouldn't complain about that, either."
Lap 89: Harvick has been complaining about the car chattering. He'd thought it was the brakes, but now he says a tire is about to fall off.
Lap 77: Harvick is still popping off about the stop. "It's other people going forward ... maybe I just can't drive it."
Lap 72: Kyle Busch gets sideways just in front of Harvick, but is able to maintain control. The radio now is eerily silent.
Lap 65: Harvick says, "We're getting what we deserve. We're going backward." Harvick and team owner Richard Childress exchange sharp words on the radio.
Lap 62: Harvick says that when he let off the gas, the car shot to the top of the track. He says if the team had a better pit stop, he'd have better track position.
Lap 61: Harvick is up to 16th, and is just ahead of a snarling pack of traffic.
Lap 59: Harvick gets four wide going into turn one.
Lap 59: When the green flag falls again, Harvick is shown 19th in the running order. However, four of the cars ahead of him took on two tires during their stops and some didn't pit at all.
Lap 55: Harvick makes another pit stop. Harvick takes on four tires and fuel. Harvick is not pleased with the stop, which takes 15.8 secoonds to complete. He says, "If you're gonna have a bad stop, have it in practice."
Lap 53: Robby Gordon slaps the wall in turn one, which brings out the caution. Harvick says that he's still too loose.
Lap 48: After the green-flag stops, Harvick is 13th in the running order, trailing leader Jimmie Johnson by 13.84 seconds.
Lap 44: For the second stop in a row, Harvick thanks the crew.
Lap 43: Harvick is on pit road. He takes on four tires, fuel and adjustments. The crew completes its work in 15 seconds.
Lap 42: A cycle of green-flag stops has started. Harvick should be coming in the next lap.
Lap 36: Harvick seems to have settled into 13th place. Car owner Richard Childress tells him that he's running the same time as leader Jimmie Johnson.
Lap 30: Harvick clears Stremme and Hornish.
Lap 29: Harvick says that he's racing "dumb and dumber," referring to Sam Hornish Jr. and David Stremme. They're battlinng for 13th, 14th and 15th place.
Lap 25: When they pit again, crew chief Gil Martin plans to undo the chassis changes made during the first stop of the day.
Lap 23: Harvick says the car is back to being too loose.
Lap 21: Harvick gets passed for 13th place by teammate Clint Bowyer, who has four fresh tires to Harvick's two.
Lap 16: Harvick has moved up to 16th, 6.57 seconds behind leader Mark Martin.
Lap 12: The green flag is out again. Harvick is 18th.
Lap 10: Harvick drops onto pit road, joining most of the last half of the field. At the last moment, crew chief Gil Martin calls for just two right-side tires. After the stop, Harvick compliments the crew ... "Good job, guys!"
2:49 p.m.: Cars are moving back down pit road.
2:48 p.m.: The engines have been fired once more. As rain delays go, this one wasn't too bad.
2:42 p.m.: Drivers have been called back to their cars.
Lap 9: Cars are being stopped on pit road. The red flag is out.
Lap 7: The caution is out for ... good grief ... rain.
Lap 3: Harvick has made quite a jump from the start, up seven spots to 15th place. His spotter reports a few sprinkles ... not again!!!
2:20 p.m.: Green flag!!!
2:18 p.m.: One lap to go before the green. Today's race is 200 laps, 400 miles.
2:17 p.m.: Team owner Richard Childress wishes the team well, tellling the crew to have a good day in the pits and that they have a car capable of winning.
2:13 p.m.: The field begins to roll off pit road. The green flag will be given the third time by the starter's stand.
2:08 p.m.: Engines have fired ... we're going racing!!!
2:02 p.m.: The invocation is given. Chris Young sings the Star Spangled Banner.
2:01 p.m.: A moment of silence is held for Tom Murphy, a Sprint official who died recently in a car accident.
1:59 p.m.: The Canadian national anthem is being sung.
Race Day, 1:57 p.m.: Harvick qualified 22nd for this event.
Pre-Race: The car Kevin Harvick will drive at Michigan has been been used several times this season. Harvick previously used the machine at Chicagoland, Indianapolis and Pocono.
In 17 Cup races at Michigan, Harvick has two top-five and six top-10 finishes. His best effort at the two-mile oval is a second in August 2003.
